Most performance based management system evaluates staffs’ ability and competency in achieving the goals and in their jobs. The organisation may have critical competencies, technical and managerial competencies that they want to develop in each staff. Managers then ask how they can better evaluate and reward staff for their overall competencies as success is sometimes dependent on other skills like leadership and interpersonal skills, their attitudes and their ability to learn and change.
This is not effectively evaluated in the traditional performance management system. Setting up a competency based system is therefore necessary. Defining competencies required for each job also help the hiring manager to look out for such competencies during the course of interviewing candidates. This course provides participants a guide on how to design and set up a competency based management system for their company.
